We are introduced to (played brilliantly by the late Raghubir Yadav ). Lakhan is a poor but principled farmer. Episode 1 establishes his routine: every morning, he collects Neem twigs for dental hygiene, brings fresh water from the well, and sits under the tree with his daughter, Champa. Through a simple dialogue with his wife, we learn that the Neem tree has saved their village from malaria multiple times due to its medicinal properties.
