The story begins with Ganesh (played by Akshay Kumar), a marketing executive who gets transferred to a rural village in India. He is shocked to see the unsanitary conditions and open defecation practices in the village. Ganesh befriends the local pradhan (village head), Gajju (played by Anupam Tripathi), and learns about the struggles of the villagers.
