Set 3,000 years ago in the islands of Oceania, Moana 2016 tells the story of Moana Waialiki of Motunui, the spirited daughter of the island’s chief, Tui. She is torn between her responsibility to her people (stay on the reef, lead the tribe) and her innate desire to explore the open ocean—a desire her father has banned due to past traumas.
