The film picks up in 1946, several years after the events of the previous installment. Rick O’Connell is retired and bored, longing for the adrenaline rush of his adventuring days. His son, Alex (played by Luke Ford), has dropped out of university to follow in his father’s footsteps, unearthing the tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Meanwhile, Rick’s wife, Evelyn (played by Maria Bello in this installment), is writing a memoir about their past exploits.
