Troubleshooting and Installing Generic Drivers for LTE MiFi Devices

macOS does not use the term "generic driver," but the equivalent is the driver. If you cannot see the device in Network Preferences under "USB Ethernet," you are missing the proper driver.

If you use your MiFi exclusively as a battery-powered WiFi hotspot, and you only plug it into a wall charger or a powered USB hub (not a PC), the driver is irrelevant. Do not touch it.

Hold the power button until the LEDs or screen activate. Booting typically takes 30 seconds to 2 minutes II. Accessing the Management Portal

Most generic 4G/5G MiFi and LTE dongles do not require a proprietary brand-name driver. Instead, they rely on (Remote Network Driver Interface Specification) to simulate a hardwired network connection over a USB cable. Windows: Typically uses the RNDIS 6 compliant driver.
