In a total immersion sim rig, you can do all of that. You can feel the rain spray off the car ahead. You can hear the V8 rumble downshifting into the Ford Chicane. You can fight for position until the last lap, your palms sweaty on the Alcantara wheel.

A standard brake pedal measures distance traveled. A load cell pedal measures pressure applied. Human muscle memory is far better at remembering pressure (50kg vs 80kg of force) than position. With load cell pedals, you learn to threshold brake—pressing just hard enough to avoid locking up—by instinct, not by looking at a UI bar. Total Immersion Racing
