The film takes place in the 16th century, during the height of the Maya civilization. Jaguar Paw (played by Rudy Youngblood) is a skilled hunter and warrior who lives in a small Maya village on the outskirts of a powerful city. After his village is raided by a group of ruthless warriors, Jaguar Paw is captured and taken to the city, along with his family and fellow villagers.
