Looking at Norbit through a 2025 lens, the film is unexpectedly dark. Rasputia is a domestic abuser. She yells, she manipulates, she threatens, and she physically restrains Norbit. The film plays this for laughs—"Ha ha, the big lady is mean to the little man"—but the subtext is uncomfortable.
