Font Substitution Will Occur Continue Direct
Font substitution occurs specifically in Scenario #2. It happens because fonts are intellectual property. You cannot legally send a font file to a coworker unless they have a license. Consequently, design software defaults to referencing fonts rather than embedding them (to save space and avoid legal issues).
