This is the film’s main attraction. As , Vikram plays the brooding, guilt-ridden agent — a standard but earnest performance. He’s muscular, intense, and does his own stunts. However, the real showstopper is Iru Mugan — a garish, gender-fluid villain inspired partly by The Dark Knight ’s Joker and Silence of the Lambs ’ Buffalo Bill. Vikram sports colorful contacts, a wig, high heels, and exaggerated mannerisms. While some critics called it over-the-top, others praised his commitment. The villain’s catchphrase (“Love is my drug”) and his manic energy salvage many dull moments.
Action choreography by Rambo Rajkumar and Dhilip Subbarayan is a mixed bag. The opening chase in Kuala Lumpur is slick, and the hand-to-hand combat is brutal. However, the overuse of slow motion and wire-fu in climax fight dilutes realism. A standout sequence: Iru Mugan’s introduction in a disused theater, where he murders a man while dancing — both eerie and stylish. index of iru mugan
