The division into 30 Juz was designed for readers to complete the entire Quran in 30 days (e.g., in Ramadan). The length of each Juz is roughly equal in terms of the number of pages, not thematic conclusion. Therefore, Juz 1 ends in the middle of the story of the Children of Israel.

Consisting of 7 verses, it is the most recited chapter in Islam, used in every unit of daily prayer. It is often called Umm al-Kitab (The Mother of the Book) because it summarizes the entire message of the Quran.
