Paan Singh Tomar was a Indian Army jawan who turned to a life of crime after being forced to do so. Born in 1932 in the Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh, Tomar was a talented athlete and a national-level champion in the 5000m and 10,000m races. However, his life took a dramatic turn when he was falsely accused of murder and forced to flee to the forests of Chambal, where he became a dacoit.
