In 2022, Polycom patched several critical CVEs (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) in the VVX series involving remote code execution. If you lack the update key to access that patch, your VoIP traffic could be intercepted, or your phone could become a botnet entry point.
Note: The phone will reboot twice. Do not unplug power during this process.
Historically, Polycom has used a model where the base functionality of the phone is available "out of the box." However, to unlock advanced capabilities—or in some legacy contexts, to authorize the phone to download specific versions of firmware—an administrator must input a license key or a feature string.
