Kannada literature has a long and storied history, dating back to the 9th century. The earliest known Kannada texts are the inscriptions found on stone and copper plates, which date back to the Rashtrakuta dynasty (753-982 CE). Over the centuries, Kannada literature evolved, influenced by various cultural and literary movements, including the Bhakti movement, which emphasized devotion and spirituality.
