Beyond the cable, the hardware setup involves verifying the end-stop limit switches and spindle control wiring. A common mistake is assuming that USB connection implies power delivery; the 3040 requires a separate, high-current power supply for the stepper motors and the 300W–500W DC spindle. Without proper grounding and shielding on the USB cable, electrical noise from the spindle can cause random disconnections or erratic axis movement. Therefore, a successful USB setup is as much about electrical hygiene (ferrite cores, shielded cables) as it is about software.
