If you are moving your characters to a new computer, the process is straightforward. Install Diablo II and the Median XL Launcher on the new machine first. Run the game once to allow the launcher to create the necessary folder structures. Once the folders exist, simply paste your backed-up .d2s and associated files into the new Save directory.
