To be fair, the film is not perfect. The three-hour runtime feels excessive. The second half, involving a kidnapping and a car chase, drifts into Shankar’s signature "message mode" (criticizing the police and political system), which feels disconnected from the breezy first half. Also, the treatment of the female characters is strictly from the male gaze—Harini is largely a symbol, not a fully realized person. Watch it for the nostalgia
