A central discussion point for the series has always been Kevin himself. Eric Petersen has the unenviable task of playing a character who is simultaneously a caricature and a villain. In Season 2, the writers walk a fine line. They cannot make Kevin too self-aware, or the sitcom construct breaks; but they cannot make him too cartoonish, or the stakes disappear.

The series ends not with a murder, but with a death.
