If you have beaten Super Punch Boy 100%, including all secret exits and the original Hell World, then -excessm- is your next Everest. The "Excess" World is some of the finest level design in modern platforming—if you have the nerves.
The game employs a lives system (Credits) that harkens back to the arcade era. Losing all your health sends you back to a checkpoint or the beginning of the stage, depending on the difficulty setting. This creates high tension. Boss fights are multi-stage affairs that require pattern recognition and lightning-fast reflexes. The bosses in Super Punch Boy are not mere damage sponges; they are puzzles of their own, often requiring the player to use the environment or the boss's own attacks against them.
