GitHub is generally a safe platform, but it is not immune to malicious actors. Anyone can create a repository. If you download a driver from a repository with no "stars," no commit history, and an unknown developer, you are essentially installing a "rootkit" onto your computer. Malware disguised as GPU drivers is a favorite vector for crypto-miners and keyloggers.
