The film follows the story of Butch Coolidge (Jeff Bridges), a tough and rugged police officer who is killed in the line of duty. However, Butch's spirit does not rest, and he finds himself in the Rest in Peace Department (R.I.P.D), a special division of the police department that deals with the supernatural.
