With the v.4 data safely copied to the correctly formatted SD card, the user approaches the vehicle. The engine is started (to prevent the unit from powering down mid-update), and the old map SD card is ejected. The new card is inserted into the slot. For a tense minute, the screen may display "Please wait" or "Starting navigation." If the stars align—if the CID matches, if the FEC code is valid, and if the data structure is perfect—the RNS 315 will recognize the update and begin loading. A successful installation results in a notification: "Database updated to Version 4."
