Each entry came with a “Hardness Score” (1–10 for duration, density, and emotional damage) and a “Pop Media Cross-Reference” to trick casual viewers into trying them.
Interestingly, the line between "hard movies" and mainstream entertainment content has blurred in the last decade. The success of Everything Everywhere All at Once (which is weird, fast, and emotional) or Parasite (which shifts genres violently) proved that audiences are hungry for complexity.
