For first-year students at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, few courses inspire as much respect—and anxiety—as (SG1102 or similar course codes, often searched colloquially as "mekanik 1 kth"). This mandatory 7.5 ECTS credit course is the cornerstone of the engineering physics program (Teknisk Fysik) and many other engineering disciplines. It is the first time many students encounter university-level physics, moving from high school’s plug-and-chug formulas to the rigorous, calculus-driven world of Newtonian mechanics.
A: Not necessarily. Many KTH professors are researchers first, teachers second. The best resource is the recitation session (räkneövning) – the small-group problem-solving sessions led by a teaching assistant (TA). Prioritize these.
