Director Adrian Lyne (known for Fatal Attraction and 9½ Weeks ) masterfully turns the mundane landscape of suburban New York into a pressure cooker of temptation.
The film concludes on an ambiguous, haunting note. After Edward accidentally kills Paul and the couple attempts to cover up the crime, they find themselves sitting in their car at a red light in front of a police station, silently contemplating their future and whether they will turn themselves in.
